Hi. For ages now I have had puffy wrists which are a constant discomfort. Steroid injections haven't really improved them.

I had an aspiration from knee done recently which has worked well.

Can this be done in wrists?

Hi Darshin i have had lots of problems with my wrists, eventually having to have then fused. I had loads of steroid injections in them but never aspirated.

Hi Darshin

Just the once ... and never again Scared Does that answer the question?!

I had very bad swelling in my right wrist which was thought to be partly due to a joint infection. I believe arthrocentesis in RA is done only rarely because of the complex nature of the bone structure of the wrist and the difficulty of getting into the intercarpal spaces. I think it is more often performed for diagnostic purposes.

Steroid injection into the wrist has a good success rate, I understand, although it can be of a very temporary nature. Wrists showing long term damage often require fusing or replacement.

Not on the wrist - the medication seems to bring these under control (15 mg steriod tablets/day)
Knees yes - lots - but not very successful yet!
